Location: Tauranga and Wellington

The first study is a two year investigation into the long term safety and effectiveness of a new investigational treatment for type 2 diabetes when given in combination with metformin. The investigational medicine will be compared with a marketed medicine. The study involves 21-32 visits to the clinic over a 2 - 2^1/2 year period. During the first four months assessments will be performed every 1-2 weeks; after the 6-month time-point you will need to come to the clinic every 13 weeks. Most visits will take about 1 hour to complete but some may take up to 3 hours.

Location: Wellington

The second study is designed to look at the safety and effectiveness of a new investigational medicine compared with a current treatment for diabetes and a placebo. Participants in this study will take one of the study medicines for 4 weeks followed by a one month observation period. The study lasts for about 11 weeks in total and will involve about 9 visits to the clinic. Most visits will take 1-2 hours, but 2 visits will take 3-4 hours to complete.
